This is War

In Genesis, we learn that God created the world, and everything in the world. God breathed life into Adam, and from Adam’s rib God created Eve to be his companion. Adam and Eve were created in the image of God. God gave man dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and every creature on the land. God also gave man all the fruit of the trees to eat—except for one. God told man not to eat of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, lest they will die. Both obeyed until the serpent deceived Eve. The serpent lied to her, telling her she would not die if she ate the tree’s fruit. Then she gave the fruit to Adam to eat, and he did. Now, as God had warned, they both, and all of mankind to follow, would surely die, and God made the serpent to eat the dust of the earth, and made man and serpent enemies, from that day forth. From that day forth, man knew the difference between good and evil; and, from that day forth, there was war.
The war which I am speaking of is a war of good against evil; righteousness against sin. For thousands of years, the war has been fought. We see this, for example, in Sodom and Gomorrah. These two cities were filled with sin, and were continually wicked. The bible mentions Sodom and Gomorrah being guilty of homosexuality, gluttony, idleness, and more. These two cities took pleasure in their sin, and were continually sinful, and for these sins, they were destroyed. Today, in America, and in the world, the same sins are flourishing, overtaking the hearts of men and women alike. Why? Because people like their sin. They love their sin. People allow their minds to be taken captive by these abominations. These same sinful people seek to destroy Christians because Christians are the only ones letting them know they are wrong, and their sin will get them cast into the fire.
But there is something wonderful on the Christian’s side. Christians have Jesus. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the father, but through him. Jesus came to save. He was our sacrifice—the perfect lamb. He preached love and salvation, healed many, helped many, and was put to death for it. But thank God it was not in vain, because he went to the cross so man would not have to. He did not carry his cross, but the cross of every man and woman who would accept him as their lord and savior. When he hung on the cross, and died, he took man’s sins with him. He died for mankind. He died so every man could live. He died so everyone would have a way out of this sinful world! Thank God, the war is won! He proved the war is won through his resurrection.
The truth is the war is won. However, there are still battles to fight. Battles are still being fought against sin. Unbelief is an example of a battle we are still fighting. If a person does not accept Christ as their lord and savior, they are in danger of hanging on their cross themselves, and suffering their sins for an eternity. John 3:16-17 says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.” God’s people are to spread the message of the cross just as the disciples were instructed at the end of the Gospel of Matthew. God’s people are to teach all nations to observe all things which Christ commanded the disciples, and to baptize in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost.
The war is over, but battles are still being fought, so put on your battle armor, as Paul instructed the Ephesians. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can withstand the wicked woes of the devil. Read the word of God because the bible is sharper than any double-edged sword you will ever encounter. And pray always in all supplication of the spirit, because, without God, the fight is worthless. Christians will meet people who will mock them, and slander God. Most of the time they will do this because they are lost and in search of the wonderful things Christ has given to his followers. 1 Peter 3:15 says, “But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:” Any man who asks for directions give him direction. The road to Hell is paved broad, but the road to Heaven is straight and narrow. The disciples had to be taught how to pray; teach a sinner in search of God to pray. The disciples had to learn to have faith; explain to a sinner in search of God what faith is, and how to come by it. Paul told us that only through Christ a sinner can be brought to spiritual life by the Holy Spirit; teach a sinner that Christ is the only way to salvation.
Christians know that since God is on their side, they are unstoppable. In the book of Daniel, chapter three, we see Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego thrown into a fiery furnace for not worshipping the golden image of King Nebuchadnezzar. However, these three men were not affected by the flames. But in the flames, Nebuchadnezzar saw four men—the fourth man was declared to be the Son of God. Wow, how powerful. Understand that a Christian cannot leave God out of their message, or out of their purpose, because God is where the Christian’s strength lies, and in his strength the Christian is forever protected. Jesus said, “Love God with all your heart, soul, and mind, and love your neighbor as yourself.” Show every man, woman, and child, that there is grace and salvation in Christ and his Father.
Due to the fall of man in the Garden of Eden, man was lost in his sin. Since man was lost in his sin, and needed salvation, God sent a Savior. Jesus Christ came to this earth and died for the sins of every man. He won the war against sin, but only for those who believe in him. Now, Christians are to spread the message of the cross so that lost sinners can likewise find salvation. Know that the war is not one of the flesh, which requires blood to be spilled, but a war of the spirit, which requires the quickening of the spirit, which is only capable through Christ. Christians are to always stand ready to give defense for their faith, and to provide direction for the lost. Amen.
